Our recent project at Avington Park House, a Grade I listed building near Winchester, Hampshire, demonstrates our expertise and showcases how efficient solutions are necessary to suit the scale and heritage status of such an estate.
Upgrading Inefficient Heritage Heating Systems
Despite a new plant room installed by another contractor, the property’s heating was extremely inefficient. Costs spiralled to £5,000 per week during winter, and the system still failed to provide adequate warmth. The client needed a reliable solution that brought the costs down while, more importantly, addressing the heating issues.
Designing Bespoke Commercial Heating Solutions
Our team carried out a full system redesign and implemented significant upgrades to achieve long-term efficiency. To reduce costs, we reused major equipment where possible while integrating a 150KW
commercial boiler with renewable heating technology, offering a truly hybrid solution.
This bespoke solution ensured extra costs were kept to a minimum while the client’s requirements were met.
Key elements of the project included:
- Two new plant rooms connected by underground pipework runs of 75mm Duo, each 100m long.
- A new Energy Centre featuring:
- 7 indoor hydro pack units
- A hybrid system design, with the boiler providing support in colder months.
- Hot water upgrades, including two 400-litre cylinders in the main plant room.
- Full BMS (Building Management System) integration with Wi-Fi thermostats, allowing the client to control each room individually from their phone.
By combining traditional and renewable technologies, we created one of the most efficient
commercial heating systems, delivering reliable performance year-round.
